Editorial Policy
How we research, write, and maintain the content on DeadliftWorkout.com.
Last updated: July 2026
Our Commitment
DeadliftWorkout.com is built on one principle: every piece of information must be evidence-based, scientifically accurate, and practically useful. We hold ourselves to the same standard a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) would apply to client programming.
How We Research
- Primary sources first. We cite peer-reviewed research published in journals such as the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, Sports Medicine, and Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise.
- Established textbooks. Content draws from widely accepted resources including the NSCA's Essentials of Strength Training and Conditioning (4th ed.) and Zatsiorsky & Kraemer's Science and Practice of Strength Training.
- Expert consensus where data is limited. Where randomized controlled trials are unavailable, we rely on expert opinion from recognized coaching authorities (e.g., Greg Nuckols, Mike Tuchscherer, Jim Wendler) and clearly label such recommendations as "expert consensus" rather than established fact.
- No unsupported claims. We do not publish anecdotal advice, influencer opinions, or manufacturer claims without independent verification.
How Our Calculators Work
Every calculator on DeadliftWorkout.com follows a transparent methodology:
- Published formulas. Calculator logic is based on published, peer-reviewed formulas (e.g., Epley, Brzycki for 1RM estimation; official DOTS and Wilks coefficient tables for scoring).
- Assumptions are stated. Every tool documents its assumptions, limitations, and margin of error directly in the user interface and supporting copy.
- Population averages, not promises. Results are estimates based on population averages. Individual response varies based on genetics, training history, nutrition, recovery, and other factors.
- References are linked. Each tool page includes a References section citing the specific studies and textbooks that inform its calculations.
Fact-Checking Process
- Initial research and draft. Content is written using primary source material.
- Formula validation. All calculator formulas are independently verified against published coefficient tables and tested with known input/output pairs.
- Cross-reference check. Claims are cross-referenced against at least two independent sources before publication.
- Coaching review. Practical recommendations are reviewed against established coaching practices to ensure they are safe and actionable.
- Ongoing monitoring. Published content is reviewed periodically and updated when new research emerges or errors are identified.
Corrections & Updates
If we identify an error — or a reader reports one — we correct it promptly. Significant corrections are noted with the update date. We do not silently alter published claims without acknowledgment.
