About Manish

Manish Kumar is a NASM-certified personal trainer and strength & conditioning specialist with over 10 years of hands-on coaching experience. He specializes in RPE-based programming, powerlifting preparation, and evidence-informed training design.

Manish founded DeadliftWorkout.com to help lifters and coaches make better daily training decisions using standardized effort measurement. Every tool on this platform is built with the same principle: give lifters and coaches actionable numbers they can trust in real training sessions, backed by transparent formulas and clearly stated assumptions.

His approach to coaching is rooted in the belief that effective training does not require guesswork — it requires accurate data, honest self-assessment, and programs that adapt to the individual. The calculators and tools on this site reflect that philosophy: they use peer-reviewed formulas, clearly disclose their methodology, and provide coaching interpretations alongside raw numbers.

Coaching Philosophy

Evidence Over Opinion

Every formula, threshold, and recommendation on this site is traceable to published research or established coaching consensus. When evidence is limited, that is stated explicitly.

Transparency First

No black-box calculators. Every tool shows the formula it uses, the assumptions it makes, and the limitations of its outputs. You should understand how your numbers are generated.

Practical Application

Academic research means nothing if it cannot be applied in the gym. Every tool on this site is designed for real-world use — quick inputs, clear outputs, and actionable coaching notes.

How I Build Tools

Every calculator on DeadliftWorkout.com follows the same development process:

  1. Research the underlying science: I start by reviewing the peer-reviewed literature for the relevant formula or model. Epley for 1RM estimation, Helms et al. for RPE-to-RIR mapping, NSCA guidelines for volume prescriptions — every formula has a citation.
  2. Validate with known data: I test every formula against known input/output pairs from published research. If the calculator says a 100 kg lifter with a 200 kg deadlift scores DOTS 300, I verify that against the official DOTS coefficient tables.
  3. Add coaching interpretation: Raw numbers are not enough. Every tool provides a coaching note that explains what the output means in practical terms — "This volume is appropriate for an intermediate lifter in a hypertrophy block" or "Your relative strength is above average for your weight class."
  4. Disclose limitations: No calculator is perfect. Every tool states its assumptions, the population it was validated on, and the conditions where it may be less accurate. Transparency builds trust.
